I’m M. LaVora Perry, founder of Forest Hill Publishing, LLC and its subsidiary, ForestHillWebs. As both a website designer and developer, my goal is to help you fulfill yours. I’ll make the front end of your website visually appealing and easy to navigate and the back end function optimally.
I started Forest Hill Publishing in 2004 to publish my first children’s book — Taneesha’s Treasures of the Heart. I named the company after Forest Hill Park in East Cleveland.
After founding Forest Hill Publishing, I built my own website using a prefabbed template. I bought an application for it from a web developer and designer in New Jersey. Then, to my horror, he accidentally made my site disappear. He promised to make up for it by teaching me the craft. When he told me “You know more than I do now,” I began building sites for others. My largest client to date is the City of East Cleveland.
I’m an artist at heart. I studied acting and musical theater at Ithaca college. I performed in New York City, Switzerland, and the southern United States in the ’80’s and ’90’s. In 1995, American greetings hired me as their first black staff greeting card writer in their then-75-year history. They awarded me for “creative excellence” twice — once for writing and once for editing. I’ve also provided editing services for individuals, and other publishers have published my books, stories, and poems. I’m most proud of my children’s novel, Taneesha Never Disparaging. Currently, I’m reawakening my performance arts career as a commercial model.
The creativity involved in building a website fits me like a favorite pair of jeans. It gives me such a thrill.
That’s my story. I hope you’ll allow ForestHillWebs to be a part of yours. -M. LaVora Perry
